Winston Cup second round details The Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket league will this weekend see the second round of the Winston Cup. Unfortunately the first round of games were a near washout, with only a couple of the round robin leagues being, miraculously, completed. The rest of the ties were decided by a bowl out which was a shame but typified yet another, wet, dismal cricket season. The second round of matches will see 12 clubs battle it out in four, three club round robins. The grounds hosting the matches are Grindleford CC (Bridge Filed), Whittington Wanderers CC (Brealey Park), Stanton In The Peak CC (Pilhough Lane) and Hathersage CC (Baulk Lane). There will be three 20 six bowl over matches at each ground, starting at 11:00, 14:00 & 17:00 with the winners of each group progressing to the finals day to be held at Hathersage CC in early September. The league would like to thank all the clubs who have offered to host the matches, especially Hathersage CC who have offered their delightful Baulk Lane ground to host the finals day, a ground of course where Brian Winston spent many a happy hour enjoying cricket, be it playing, umpiring or watching. For a round up of the results and for more information about the league visit www.yorksderby.playcricket. com. Any companies or individuals wishing to sponsor the finals day or for further information please contact the league’s Publicity Officer. The league is now taking applications from clubs wishing to join their every growing number. For more information contact adamski72@hotmail.co.uk.
